Paintings, instruments and heirlooms
A Tanjore painting, veena, bronze figure or old brass lamp needs more planning than an ordinary carton. Share photographs, dimensions and condition before the survey, and tell the team whether a suitable case or frame is available.
List valuable pieces separately, including any loose parts or existing damage. Discuss a packing method suited to the actual surface and structure, and whether a specialist art or instrument handler is needed.
Do not apply tape or wrapping directly to delicate painted, gilded or polished surfaces. Seek appropriate specialist guidance before preparing fragile artwork or an instrument. Agree the proposed case, cushioning, handling position and place in the load.
Keep condition photographs and the agreed inventory for delivery checks. If selecting transit cover, review declared values and any exclusions for artwork or antiques rather than assuming every piece is covered.
