Most of our trucks take the Chennai - Trichy - Madurai - Tirunelveli - Nagercoil road and enter Kerala near Kaliyakkavilai. From there it is a short run on NH66 into Thiruvananthapuram city. The highway is good for most of the way. The slow parts are usually the Chennai city exit, the Nagercoil stretch and the last few kilometres inside Trivandrum, where the roads are narrow and traffic builds up quickly in the evening.

Best Time to Shift from Chennai to Trivandrum
Weather plays a bigger role on this route than people expect, because the two cities get their heavy rain at different times of the year.
- January to May: Often convenient, but check the forecast before fixing the date. April and May get busy because of school admissions, so book early.
- June to September: Southwest monsoon in Kerala. Trivandrum gets regular heavy showers, and unloading in rain is the biggest risk. We add an extra waterproof layer on sofas, mattresses and cartons, and carry tarpaulins for the unloading.
- October to December: Northeast monsoon in Chennai. Some areas like Velachery, Pallikaranai and parts of OMR get waterlogged, which can delay loading by a day. We keep a buffer day in the plan during these months.

Things to Know Before Moving into Trivandrum
Trivandrum is a very different city to move into compared to Chennai. A few things we have learnt from our moves there:
Many homes are independent houses on small roads
In areas like Sasthamangalam, Vattiyoorkavu, Peroorkada and Poojappura, a lot of homes are independent houses on narrow, sloping roads. A big container truck cannot always reach the gate. In that case we park on the main road and shift the goods in a smaller vehicle for the last stretch. We check this during the survey so there is no surprise charge on the day.
Technopark and Kazhakkoottam side
If you are joining Technopark or Technocity, you will most likely be looking at flats in Kazhakkoottam, Kariyavattom, Sreekaryam or Pothencode. Most of these apartment complexes ask for a move-in request a day or two before, and some allow trucks only at fixed hours. Tell your new society early, and share their contact with us if you like. We will coordinate the timing.
Unloading and local workers
Confirm who will unload, the crew arrangements and included charges before dispatch. Check the building’s access and labour arrangements in advance. If an unexpected payment is requested, speak to your moving coordinator before agreeing to it.
Keep things dry after delivery
Trivandrum is humid for most of the year. Unpack leather items, wooden furniture and electronics within a few days instead of leaving them in cartons for weeks. Cartons can absorb moisture and leave marks.
